Art: The art was done well. Sprites had a lot of detail to them, backgrounds had a rough feel that I loved, the detail on CGs (Particularly the gory ones) were awesome. Assuming you're into a darker type of art style, this was great, 8/10.
Technicals: There's not really anything to complain about here. The translation does have a bit of Shiravune's usual antics but nothing crazy. There's not a lot of customization but still satisfactory. The last thing I will say is THANK GOD skip to next choice exists. If it didn't I would've ripped my hair out, 7/10.
Characters: This VN has a shit ton of characters. In my reviews I usually rank the MC, heroines, and then lump the rest of the characters into one rating but yeah... There's just too many to rate this time around. The MC was great, had a ton of personality with a tough past. His sister was a great support character. What you could consider the central girl, Touko, was a more eccentric girl but her personality was fun. The MC's police friend Uozumi was a tough nut who played his role well. The 2 moon world employees Kyouko and Hatsune weren't really involved in the main storyline but they were still solid supports. The antagonist(s) did their job in making things fun. Yeah that's all I have to say in this category lmao, there's just way too many characters for me to go over but yeah, there's none that I particularly disliked and all of them fulfilled their roles well.
H Scenes (Insert facepalming emoji here) Kara no Shoujo would've been a lot better off without H scenes. All of them feel like they exist for the sake of existing, they simply feel out of place and irrelevant to the VN. They're short and sweet (Hell a slower reader could easily go through them in roughly 2 minutes or less), and just way out of place, 3/10.
Music/Sound Effects: Oh boy. The sound effects were fun and in particular the murder scenes, teehee. The OST was great. There's not a lot of tracks but what you get made the VN feel a lot more immersive and the tension ones really made you feel like bad shit was about to go down, 8.5/10.
Story: Talking about the story is a bit complicated for me. On one side, what is their to complain about the plot? The answer is nothing really. The sequence of events was fun, the slow reveal of the mystery was well done, the endings (Including the bad ones) were good to see, the characters heavily contributed to it, and the final reveals were great. Out of the entire plot, I have nothing to complain about. Might've gotten a bit boring at times but getting to see the different plot points be settled was worth the reading. It's a very intricate journey with a ton of different choices, and even changing one choice could end up changing your entire playthrough.
The problem for me was that it was too intricate. Don't get me wrong, the high amount of endings is a great touch and there's a lot of unique text it'd take you a few playthroughs to achieve but, after a while I just said screw it, got the true ending, good enough. Having a high amount of choices and endings does carry the negative effect of needing to skip a lot. Having a skip to next choice button was a gigantic gift from God so the skipping wasn't as much of a pain but it was still annoying. I achieved a lot of endings in a somewhat weird way but if you were to get to the very end of the VN in one playthrough, the rest of your time would be used skipping a bunch, reading some unique text, skipping, more unique text. That just doesn't work for me. Having to burn a lot of time skipping and going through so many choices again and again (Particularly the map segments) bogged down my experience. The story is still great but they really should've toned down on the amount of time you have to go skipping just to get one ending, 7/10.
Final Thoughts: So, outside the H scenes and the comically high amount of repeating you have to do to achieve everything, this was still a great mystery visual novel to read. The characters, art, and plot were all very well done, and that amounts to a 7.5/10 rating and a recommendation to give Kara no Shoujo (Or "The Shell") a read.
